Tips for Getting Great Results

Last updated: October 19, 2026

Marqii Assistant understands everyday language, so you don't need special commands. A few simple habits make its answers faster and more accurate: be specific about what you want, name your locations, give clear date ranges, and tell it how you'd like the answer laid out. This article covers those habits, explains how the assistant handles dates, and shows how to check its work before you act on it.

Be Specific

The more detail you give, the less the assistant has to guess. Say what you want, where, and for what time period.

Instead of…

Try…

"Show me reviews"

"Show me reviews from last week with 2 stars or less at our Downtown location"

"Update the hours"

"Change Saturday hours at Uptown to 11am to 11pm"

"How are we doing?"

"Compare average rating by location for the last 30 days"

"Fix the menu"

"Raise the price of the Classic Burger on the Lunch menu to $14"

Name Your Locations

Use the location names you see on the Locations page, such as "Downtown", "Uptown" or "Airport". The assistant looks up the real location by name before it does anything.

  • To include several locations, list them: "at Downtown and Uptown".

  • To include a group, name the folder: "every location in the Texas folder".

  • To include everything, say so: "at all locations".

Tip: If two locations have similar names, use the full name or the address so the assistant picks the right one.

Use the Page You're On

The assistant knows which page you're viewing. Look for Context: under the message box, for example "Context: Location Details" or "Context: Menu Details". On those pages you can say "this location" or "this menu" without naming it.

  • On a location's details page: "Summarize this location's setup"

  • On a menu's details page: "Summarize this menu"

If the rest of your conversation makes it clear you mean something else, the assistant follows the conversation. When in doubt, name it.

Note: On some pages, such as Reviews, Social Management and Widgets, the Context: label simply reads "Dashboard". You can still ask about those areas; just name what you mean.

Be Clear About Dates

The assistant works out dates from today's date in your time zone. Here's how it reads common phrases:

You say

The assistant uses

"today", "tomorrow", "next Friday"

That date, based on today's date

"this weekend" or "the weekend"

The upcoming Saturday and Sunday

A date without a year, like "September 1"

That date in the current year

A past date without a year, when scheduling something

It asks you which date you mean

"Last 7 days", "last 30 days", "last 90 days"

The period up to and including today

"Month to date", "quarter to date", "year to date"

From the start of the period up to and including today

A start and end date, like "March 1 to March 31"

Both days are included in full

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Monthly search reports cover whole months. Search appearance reports by month always return complete calendar months. If your range touches part of a month, you'll get that whole month.

  • "Last month" and "last week" can mean different things to different people. If exact dates matter, give them: "from October 1 to October 31".

  • When scheduling, include the time and day. For example, "Schedule that post for Friday, November 7 at 9am". The assistant uses your computer's time zone to work out the time. Check the time on the approval card before you approve, and if a confirmation shows a time in UTC, ask the assistant to convert it to your local time.

Tip: If you're not sure which dates the assistant used, ask: "What date range did you use for that?"

Ask for the Format You Want

The assistant can lay out its answer the way you need it. Just ask.

  • "Show that as a table with location, average rating and number of reviews"

  • "Give me a three-bullet summary I can share with my team"

  • "List only the locations that need attention"

  • "Sort it from lowest to highest rating"

Use the Copy message button under an answer to paste it into an email or document.

Do Several Steps in One Request

You can combine related steps in one message, and the assistant works through them in order.

  • "Find our listings that failed to sync and re-sync each one"

  • "Find holidays in the next two months that don't have hours set, then set them to closed at the Airport location"

  • "Draft a Google post announcing our new brunch menu, then schedule it for Saturday at 8am"

Each change still needs your approval. If several changes are ready at once, you can approve them one by one or use Approve all (N). See Reviewing and Approving Changes in Marqii Assistant.

Tip: If a very large request stops partway, reply "continue" and the assistant will pick up where it left off. For big jobs, splitting the work into a few smaller requests often works better.

Build on Your Previous Answer

You don't need to repeat yourself. The assistant remembers the conversation, so follow-ups can be short:

  • "Now just show the Uptown location"

  • "What about the month before?"

  • "Do the same for the Lunch menu"

  • "Label the second one as Service Issue"

When you switch to a completely different topic, click Start a new conversation. In very long conversations, the assistant may stop remembering the earliest messages, so starting fresh keeps answers focused. See Managing Your Conversations in Marqii Assistant.

Ask It to Take You There

Instead of clicking through menus and setting filters, ask the assistant to open the page for you:

  • "Take me to the Listings page and show only failed listings"

  • "Show me unreplied 1-star Google reviews from last week"

  • "Open the Brunch menu"

After the assistant makes a change, it may offer to take you to the related page. Say yes if you'd like to see it. See Navigating the Dashboard with Marqii Assistant.

Check Its Work

The reminder under the message box says it best: Uses AI. Verify results before acting. AI can occasionally misread a request or miss something. A few quick checks:

  1. Read the approval card before you approve. Each change shows what will be updated. If it isn't right, click Reject and rephrase your request.

  2. Look at the steps it took. Click the Work completed row above an answer to see each step, such as "Fetching your reviews…".

  3. Check the page. After a change, look at the page in the dashboard to confirm it. Most pages refresh on their own. For social posts and widgets, reload the page.

  4. Ask follow-up questions. For example, "How many reviews did you include?" or "Which locations did you leave out?"

Note: For long lists, the assistant may show a summary of each record instead of every detail, or show only part of a very long list. Ask for the specific details you need, or narrow your request by location or date.

Know What It Can't Do

Some tasks still need to be done in the dashboard. For example, the assistant can draft a review reply but can't post it, and it can't upload logos, photos or menu images. See What Marqii Assistant Can Do for the full list.
