Bulk Verification for Google Business Profiles
Overview
Google Bulk Verification is a specialized process designed for businesses managing 10 or more physical locations of the same brand. Instead of verifying each location individually (via postcard or video), you can verify your entire "Business Group" at once.
Once your account is bulk verified, any new locations you add that match your brand information are typically verified automatically.
Why Bulk Verify?
Speed: Skip the 1-2 week wait for postcards or the drive to each location for every new store opening.
Scale: Verify hundreds or thousands of locations in a single request.
Control: Protects your data from unauthorized user edits; Google trusts your bulk-verified account as the "source of truth."
Consistency: Ensures hours, photos, and contact info are uniform across the web.
Eligibility Checklist
Before starting, ensure you meet the following strict requirements. If you do not, your application may be rejected.
10+ Locations: You must have at least 10 physical locations for the same business. The locations must also have the same business name and the same categories.
Physical Presence: This process is for brick-and-mortar stores. Service area businesses and virtual concepts are not eligible.
Clean Account: Your account must not have suspended, disabled or true duplicate listings.
Website Matching: Your official business website must list all the locations you are trying to verify. Google will manually check your website's "Store Locator" page to ensure it matches the data you submit. The addresses you have on your website must also match what you have on your Google Business Profile.
Domain Email: The primary owner of the account should have a domain email that matches the business website (e.g., marketing@brandname.com). It is recommended that all locations tied to this email must be in good standing and used only for the brand you're trying to bulk verify.
Step-by-Step Verification Guide
Step 1: Create a "Business Group"
You must organize your locations into a group rather than keeping them in your personal dashboard.
Log in to your Google Business Profile Manager.
Click Create Group (or "Manage locations" > "Create business group").
Name the group (e.g., "Brand Name - All Locations").
Transfer all your existing locations into this group.
Step 2: Prepare Your Bulk Spreadsheet
Google requires a specific format to process bulk data. You can simply download your grouped business locations by selecting the checkbox to the left of "Store Code" to select all locations and then clicking Actions > Businesses and downloading the CSV.
*For newer brands that are just setting up an account, you can follow these instructions:
Inside your Business Group, click Add business > Import businesses.
Download the Template provided by Google.
Fill out the spreadsheet for all your locations.
Crucial: Every location must have a unique Store Code (e.g., LOC-001, LOC-002). This is how Google tracks them.
Ensure the Business Name, Phone, and Website are consistent.
Upload the completed spreadsheet back to the dashboard.
Review the upload for errors (fix any formatting issues immediately).
Step 3: Request Verification
Once your locations are uploaded and sitting in your group (they will likely say "Unverified"):
Select the Business Group you just created.
Look for the "Get Verified" button or a prompt asking to verify the chain.
Fill out the verification form. You will need to provide:
Business Name
Count of locations
Region/Countries operated in
Contact Name and Phone Number
Manager Email (Use your domain email!)
Submit the form.
Note: If you do not see the "Get Verified" button, you may need to contact Google Business Profile Support directly and request a "Bulk Verification" ticket.
The Review Process
After submission, the process is manual. A Google support representative will review your request.
Timeline: This typically takes 4 to 12 weeks, but can take longer depending on volume.
Documentation Requests: Google may email you asking for proof of existence. Be prepared to provide:
Photos of storefront signage for random locations.
A copy of a business license.
A link to your website's store locator.
Once Approved:
You will see a shield icon or a "Bulk Verified" status on your location group. Most of your unverified locations will flip to "Verified" automatically.
Troubleshooting & Best Practices
Issue |
Solution |
Duplicate Locations |
If Google flags duplicates, you must merge or remove them before requesting bulk verification. A messy account will be rejected. Here are instructions on how to remove locations: Remove a Business Profile. |
Suspended Locations |
Suspended locations will need to be reinstated or removed if the location does not exist. Here are instructions on how to fix the location’s status: Fix Suspended Profile. |
SABs (Service Area Businesses) |
If you hide your address, you usually cannot bulk verify. You must verify those individually via video. |
Store Codes Missing |
You cannot bulk manage without Store Codes. Assign a unique ID to every single location in your internal system and on Google. Here are instructions on how to do this: Adding store codes. |
Re-verification Loops |
Avoid changing the primary Business Name or Address immediately after verification, as this can trigger a suspension. |
